Year 7, Day 5 (Eve Communications Network Established)

screenshot232.pngIn order to prepare for future Eve missions, KSEA personnel have come up with a plan to use the existing assets at Eve, the Eve Explorer and  the Eve Surveyor, to create an Eve Communications Network.

The planned maneuvers go well – the first two research spacecraft at Eve will now serve a new purpose… paving a path for future exploration of the purple world!

The ECN should provide the groundwork for a future mission that KSEA has cryptically promised will really get things rolling on the exploration of Eve!

Year 7, Day 1 (Explorer 2 Landing at the Northern Basin!)

The new year is going to start with a new Duna landing at the Northern Basin!

“Pretty – look Mitster, it’s an “Ike-rise!””

“The descent angle appears to have been pretty close to the mark! Next time we should try overshooting a little further, the atmosphere here has more drag than you might expect!”

The lander’s parachute deploys, gliding the lander down nice and slow.

Success! The lander touches down at the Northern Basin! Kimmy and Mitster take a little time to prepare for the exploration outside the lander!

Kimmy hops out, and plants the Kerbal States flag in the red sands of Duna!

After initial scientific readings are gained, Kimmy and Mitster head off to the north to investigate the odd anomalous reading picked up by the Duna Surveyor!

Kimmy and Mitster head back to the lander as quickly as they can!  But the 2km walk feels like a lifetime!

Year 6, Day 329 (Explorer 4 Mission Announced, Crew Selected!)

Explorer 4.pngThe next Explorer mission is green-lit, Explorer 4!   This will be the first exploration craft to Dres, and will also be testing the Explorer Crew Vehicle, the successor to the Duna Crew Vehicle, with greater range and more advanced life support systems.

Explorer 4’s mission will be to reach and orbit Dres, land on the surface, return to the Crew Vehicle, then return to Kerbin!   For fuel purposes the lander will remain in orbit of Dres.

Val has been chosen as Mission Commander, Orlas will be the Engineering Specialist, and Robart will be the Mission Science Specialist!
