Year 9, Day 277 (Science Mission for Kerbin Spaceport Launches!)

screenshot267.png

The Cargo Payload Vehicle (CPV) launches!

screenshot273.png

The CPV was designed as a re-usable unmanned cargo pod that can deliver science payloads to Kerbin Spaceport and then return them to Kerbin for study.

screenshot277.png

The CPV rendezvouses with Kerbin Spaceport!

screenshot281.png

Docking is a success!

Looks like a good connection!  Once the rest of the science crew gets here we should be able to see what this Cyclotron can do!

-Shepely (on board Kerbin Spaceport)

Indeed, the science crew has already been selected!  Orlas, recently back from Duna will be the lead scientist, with Shepely and Kimmy joining the team!

Year 9, Day 248 (Kerbin Spaceport Phase 3 Launches!)

screenshot245.pngThe third major component of Kerbin Spaceport blasts off!

screenshot248.pngThis addition completes the science expansion for the Spaceport, adding a cyclotron particle accelerator, which will help study particle physics and other strange science in space!

screenshot250.png

The first and second stages finish firing, leaving the Cyclotron in orbit!  Automated systems will guide it to Kerbin Spaceport.

screenshot255.png

The Cyclotron moves closer, and closer…

screenshot261.png

Until it finally connects!  The maneuvering system ejects, and the station’s new science core is ready to go!

screenshot258.png

Back on Kerbin the first Science payload is readied!

Year 9, Day 230 (Phase Two of Kerbin Spaceport Launches, Phase Three Construction Begins!)

screenshot225.png

The massive Jool Rocket blasts off from Cape Kerman!

screenshot227.png

Once in space, the aerodynamic fairing deploys!

screenshot229.png

The engines fire and the massive space station orbits Kerbin!

screenshot230.png

Almost identical to Phase One of the Spaceport, Phase Two has two giant fuel reserves, a habitat area, and a docking section.  It also features a science lab and a cupola, and of course giant solar arrays to power all the onboard systems! Once docked Kerbin Spaceport will dwarf even Kerbin Space Station, making it the largest object ever assembled in space – nearly as long as two Vehicle Assembly Buildings!

screenshot231.png

Phase Two arrives at Kerbin Spaceport! The RCS systems fire, and the two Spaceport components get closer and closer, until….

screenshot237.png

Connection!  History is made as the Kerbin Spaceport goes fully online!  Supply ships ready themselves to launch to the next two orbital fuel reserves, and KSEA prepares to launch Phase Three – the new Science component!

Kerbin Spaceport 2

Year 9, Day 197 (Construction Starts On Kerbin Spaceport Phase Two)

Kerbin Spaceport 2.pngWork is finally done on the next phase of Kerbin Spaceport! Almost identical to the first launch, this station will dock with the existing Kerbin Spaceport to create the largest object ever constructed in space.

Besides adding more fuel depots, the station has an advanced science lab and expansion ports that will allow the station to be a viable laboratory in space for the foreseeable future!

(The Station Mission Patch is updated as well to reflect the new layout of the Spaceport!)

Year 9, Day 186 (Kerbin Spaceport Launches!)

screenshot139.png

A new record is set for the heaviest payload as the Jool IV blasts off from the launchpad, carrying the new Kerbin Spaceport into orbit!

screenshot141.png

Once in orbit the fairings deploy!

screenshot142.png

The guidance systems put the Spaceport into a 71k orbit of Kerbin – lower than the Kerbin Space Station – but it should make it easier to get to the station!

screenshot143.png

The massive solar panels deploy, and the Spaceport is ready to go!  Refueling scheduling has already begun – that means the station should be fully functional in mere days!

But, that’s not all!  Another component of the station will be launched soon, to expand fuel and docking capacity!  After that a new science module will be launched.

Kerbin Spaceport

Year 9, Day 25 (Kerbin Spaceport Announced!)

Kerbin Spaceport Blueprint.png

Kerbin Spaceport.pngKSEA announces plans for a new space station in orbit of Kerbin – a Kerbin Spaceport The new station is intended to replace the existing Kerbin Space Station.

Development has only just begun, however the facility is being designed as a jumping off point for missions to deep space, with new and shinier science facilities!

Perhaps most importantly will be the addition of a logistics hub, which will automate fueling missions to the new Spaceport! The core of the new station will be launched on a Jool IV rocket.  Once the budget allows construction will commence at once!
